Ronnie did not write the speech; according to United Republicans of California he had Nancy call and beg Joe Shell to let him deliver it. UROC later issued the following resolution imploring Republicans NOT to support Reagan for president for causes that were compelling in 1974. Ronnie was not a Conservative. His tenure as governor in California proved that.
