Libertarians for Ron Paul » 2007 » June
In a stunning twist of events this week, the Iowans for Tax Relief (ITR) are holding a Presidential Forum in the Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines, IA and only one presidential candidate from the nationally televised debates was NOT invited. Who is this man? Ron Paul, the best friend the American taxpayer has in Washington DC.
Congressman Ron Paul has been recognized as a top advocate for taxpayers in the U.S. Congress for the tenth year in a row, earning the nonpartisan National Taxpayers Union’s annual award as a ”Taxpayers’ Friend” for 2006. In what might be called the most ironic reason for not doing something, Ed Failor, Executive Vice President claims the reason for the decision is that Ron Paul is not a “credible” candidate. read more http://www.gambling911.com/Ron-Paul-Iowans-for-Tax-Relief-062607.html
As you may know, Congressman Ron Paul was excluded from the Presidential Candidates Forum sponsored by Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance that is scheduled to take place that same day.
Although we would have liked to have participated, we see a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate to Iowa voters, the broad base of support for Dr. Paul.
So, right after the Presidential Forum, starting at 4:30 PM, Dr. Paul will hold his own rally, where he will share his positive and compelling message for America.
Our rally will be held at the same building as the Presidential Forum. We will be at the Hy-Vee Hall, Room C, Iowa Events Center, 730 Third Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
Please come out to show your support.

Thursday night Stephen Colbert demonstrated that Ron Paul had gotten an incredible “Colbert Bump.” A wonderfully entertaining clip!
The “war on terror” has created a culture of fear in America. The Bush administration’s elevation of these three words into a national mantra since the horrific events of 9/11 has had a pernicious impact on American democracy, on America’s psyche and on U.S. standing in the world. Using this phrase has actually undermined our ability to effectively confront the real challenges we face from fanatics who may use terrorism against us.

Maverick Congressman Ron Paul and his campaign are profiled in The American Conservative magazine http://www.amconmag.com/2007/2007_06_18/cover.html
Ron Paul discusses the costs of Empire
“Plans are afoot for a great expansion of the hemp industry.” So proclaimed the Department of Agriculture in its rousing 1942 movie, “Hemp for Victory”, which urged farmers to rally to the cause.
“American farmers would love to grow hemp,” proclaims The Economist. “North Dakota, which in 1999 became the first state to allow industrial hemp farming, has taken the lead. This week two farmers from Iowa filed a lawsuit to force the DEA to issue permits to grow hemp; the farmers had applied for permits back in February, thus far to no avail. Ron Paul, a Texas congressman and presidential candidate, could win over farmers in Iowa because of his pro-hemp lobbying. In February he introduced a bill in Congress that would allow Americans to grow it.”
Congressman Ron Paul opposes statism across the board, and supports repeal of the income tax, withdrawal from the UN, and an end to federal invovlement in health, education and welfare. His opposition to the Iraq War and to the Bush Doctrine of Pre-Emptive War is fueling enthusiasm for his campaign across America.
